The Master of Arts (MA) degree is a 36-semester-hour graduate program designed to meet the professional, academic,personal, and creative needs of graduate students. This degree provides the structure for learners to design an academic specialization that clearly reflects their professional or personal needs. Students whose learning goals go beyond the traditional graduate degree will find this degree to be relevant.
The MA degree uses an individually designed experience model as the primary method for course delivery. This model includes documented learning contracts that specify learning goals, reading activities, written assignments, oral/electronic presentation assignments, and learning assessment procedures, as approved by the academic advisor.
Students may also attend classroom-based accelerated and intensive courses already available in other CPS programs.

Graduate Professional or Liberal Arts Certificates
Students may elect to complete a Graduate Professional Studies Certificate or a Graduate Liberal Arts Certificate. An individualized certificate plan will be completed based on the learner's specific goals. A specialization for the certificate will be proposed by the student and approved by the faculty prior to enrollment. The specialization will appear on the certificate and on the students academic transcript. A minimum of 12 credit hours and a maximum of 15 credit hours are required.
